About:
Guitarist Jack Sanders will present a performance/lecture surveying the past 500 years of guitar music. His program will feature Holiday music as well as music of Luys Milan, Luis de Narvaez and Alonso Mudarra, from the Spanish renaissance, to be performed on a replica vihuela, c. 1560. Music of the baroque, composed by Gaspar Sanz and Santiago de Murcia, will be performed on a copy of the last known Stradivarius guitar from 1700. Fernando Sor's music will be performed on a "Sor Model" Rene Lacote guitar, built in 1830, which is signed by Sor. Finally, music of the modern era featuring works by Moreno, Houghton, Barrios and Brouwer will complete the program and will be performed on a recently built guitar. The vihuela, baroque guitar and modern instrument were all built by Mr. Sanders, a noted luthier of historic and modern classical guitars.
Cost= $5. Students free.

About: The Redlands MTAC Holiday Festival is an annual series of recitals, usually held at the elegant Dangermond Hall located on the second floor of the beautiful Mission Gables Bowl house in Redlands. Teacher associates of the MTAC Redlands branch schedule their individual studio recitals over a period of several days. These recitals are open to the public. One mixed-studio recital is held on one of the festival days, as well. All students receive a participation certificate. Cost = $10/student.

About: The Bach Festival is both a recital celebrating the music of J.S. Bach and a competition. All participants are evaluated on their performance by qualified adjudicators, who select the top 50% of those performing qualified repertoire to go on to the next level: the Regional Bach Festival. The top 45% of performers at the Regional Festival are chosen for advancement. The Bach Complete Works Audition is the final round and is held annually in late September/early October.
